The emPower of One

Can I really make that much of a difference? …you may ask. Consider that every single thing that has ever grown into something had to start somewhere – an idea in the mind of one person. An individual can make a massive difference in their own lives and in the lives of others. Sometimes it goes under the radar and they might be the only person who knows – and that’s okay, because when you know, you KNOW. Sometimes the action of one person can strike a chord, can inspire, can catalyse something that sends ripples around the world. (Think Greta Thunberg!)

Either way, the minute an individual makes a clear choice to rise to something greater and acts on that, we’re talking about the emPower of One.

The good news is that when you do this – whether your focus is purely on your own life or on a bigger picture – it positively impacts the collective in ways that you cannot possibly imagine. This is a repeating theme throughout this website. In appreciation of your awesomeness, we also invite you to download and award yourself a certificate of self-appreciation and take the Humanity II pledge.

You're a superhero!

Did you know you you have a superpower? You’ll be pleased to know that you are not required to leap tall buildings in a single bound! BUT there’s no more critical time than now for you to whip into a telephone box and change…so to speak (no pressure or anything!)

What we all need of each other is for each of us to play our part in gaining the advantage over bad vibes in all its forms. This is a team effort for a team win – and for the team to triumph, it needs for each individual player to shine.

Do you have any idea how powerful you are when you allow your light to shine, and live your life that way? And it doesn’t have to be in big or heroic actions – it is just as potent through countless, quiet, little things that accumulate over time. (Keep in mind too, that often what we perceive as little things are often a lot bigger than we realise. After all, who would have thought a cup of tea and a chat could have such a big impact?)

We put it to you that you are the star and the central character in the movie of your life. You are the script writer, the producer and the director. It’s up to you whether you want to shine in your starring role. There are as many choices as there are scripts and genres, so it’s up to you whether you choose to create an action thriller, a soap opera or an uplifting, feel good story.

These quotes nail it!

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Marianne Williamson

(This quote is often mistakenly attributed to Nelson Mandela, after he read it publicly to highlight its message.)

“Life’s purpose is to bring you happiness through the awareness and the declaration, the expression and the fulfilment, of Who You Really Are. Go, therefore, into this magnificent world of your creation, and make your lifetime an extraordinary statement and a breathtaking experience of the most glorious idea that you ever had about yourself.”
From the book ‘Communion with God’ by Neale Donald Walsch.

“You are here to enable the divine purpose of the Universe to unfold. That is how important you are!”

Eckhart Tolle

“You can overcome whatever is going on around you if you believe in the light that lives within you.”

Justine Edward

“I am not bound to win, I am bound to be true. I am not bound to succeed, but I am bound to live up to the light I have.”

Abraham Lincoln

“We are each gifted in a unique and important way. It is our privilege and our adventure to discover our own special light.”

Mary Dunbar

“It doesn’t matter how long we may have been stuck in a sense of our limitations. If we go into a darkened room and turn on the light, it doesn’t matter if the room has been dark for a day, a week, or ten thousand years – we turn on the light and it is illuminated. Once we control our capacity for love and happiness, the light has been turned on.”

AMAZING, inspiring examples

An avalanche of kindness will take you down

After the December 2014 Sydney Lindt Cafe siege and the ensuing racial tension, a gesture of support by Rachael Jacobs inspired the #illridewithyou social media movement (started on Twitter by @sirtessa)

In an interview, Rachael said, “The movement has inspired thousands to publicly and loudly stand up for a decent and humane world,” she said. “We know what fear can do to a society, and rather than fall victim, thousands have pledged to be part of the force…for tolerance and compassion.

“I…deliver a message to racists, bigots and anyone who dares to derive a message of hate from this tragedy – it is you who are unwelcome here. Your values have no place in civilised society, and if you spread intolerance, there’s an avalanche of kindness ready to take you down.” Full story here…

(This story is also a great example of collective empowerment as well as the emPower of One!)

Go it alone?

There’s no right or wrong whether you choose to work out stuff yourself or get help – it’s just choice.

This website is full of inspirations and resources to help you help yourself – if that’s what you choose, great! But equally, there is nothing wrong with seeking assistance. Some consider it a form of failure but it’s actually a strength, not a weakness, to recognise when you could use some independent, objective input and take action.

Do you think that when world class athletes win world championships or Olympic medals they ditch their coaches? No! They continue to rely on that team support to avail themselves of the expertise, wisdom, and objectivity of the coach. They combine it with their own incredible talent and experience. They don’t think any less of themselves for getting themselves a coach.

There are counsellors, life coaches and all manner of support services dotted across the globe, and most likely in your area. The Internet creates even more options with video calls, teleseminars and so on.  You can explore local options or do a Google search, and/or visit our Buster Booster page and Resources page for lots of ways to catch a boost.
